Dr. Neil Greene is a sociologist and public health researcher. He completed his doctoral degree at the University of New Mexico and specializes in the sociology of health and medicine. As a T32 NIAAA postdoctoral fellow at the Center on Alcohol Substance Use and Addictions (CASAA), he studied the science of addiction in relation to best practices in health and housing navigation, criminal legal system reform, and community engaged approaches to measurement research. He has published over 20 peer reviewed journal articles including over 5 first-authored publications. Much of his research focuses on relationships between substance use, housing status, and premature mortality, which can be seen in publications such as “Aspects of visibility among people who died while affected by homelessness and implications for outreach”, “Service use differences among those experiencing homelessness: A posthumous analysis”, and “Marked as Homeless: Reconciling with Ambiguities about Housing Status in Death Records”.
